If you’ve just recently found and followed me, hello. Thanks for being here. I’m guessing you found me because Aaron Gillespie is the drummer on my new record, so I just want to take a second and tell you a little bit more about who I am.
I’ve been playing in bands and recording music since 2001. I started putting out self-produced albums in 2009 alongside being in bands that played around Chicago. I’ve never been a full-time musician. I worked as a commercial diver (think underwater welding) for over 10 years, and since 2018 have been running heavy equipment.
I spent my entire life since age 13 dealing with severe depression, though I didn’t actually get diagnosed until I was about 34. Who knew it wasn’t normal to wish you were dead everyday? I just turned 40. Things have gotten much better thanks to the right medication and therapy.
I’ve been married for 18 years and have 3 kids. I like my wife and kids a lot.
If you listen to any of my releases from 2019 or earlier, I have to warn you that a lot of it doesn’t resemble what I’m doing now. That’s actually been a major hangup for me regarding self-promotion, because I don’t like a lot of what I put out in the past…but I leave it out there because now and then someone will tell me which of my songs is their favorite, and it’s often one that I’m not particularly into.
